We made Author Visits to 2 of our local schools (St Patrick's Mortlake & Strathfield North Public School) this week.
It was very rewarding to see the children's faces lighting up, while listening to the stories read to them by our resident art teacher & published author Nathaniel Eckstrom.
Nathaniel also shared with the students his own journey on becoming artist/author/illustrator, starting when he was just a child.
And the many, many stages required to create a children's story book... even the teachers & I were fascinated!
We were particularly impressed by a number of Y1 & Y2 students, who came up to us the end of their session to tell us that they too wanted to become authors / illustrators when they grow up (ohhhhh…so sweet!).
Hopefully we have inspired some of the students to pursue their own artistic talents and continue to develop a love for reading & literacy as well.
As Dr Seuss says:
The more that you READ,
the more things you will KNOW.
The more that you LEARN,
the more places you’ll GO.
Thanks for having us at your schools!
We've made a short video clip of the visits, check it out >> St Pat's or SNPS.
